Do not attempt to drain the coolant system while the engine

Drain your engine's cooling system by loosening the drain at the bottom of the radiator. Make certain to have a clean container on hand that is large enough to hold the engine coolant and can be covered to protect against debris. Do not attempt to drain the coolant system while the engine--and thus the coolant--is still warm.

Unplug the cooling fan and radiator sensor connectors. Be careful not to break off any part of the waterproof connectors. Then unscrew the hose clamp from the upper radiator hose, making certain to mark the exact location and orientation of both clamp and hose, remove the upper hose and the coolant overflow tank.
